Who Reads These Hubs Anyway?

While I have a steady audience for my more than 100 articles on HubPages, I never get thousands of hits in a day.

I feel lucky if four digits worth of readers visit me in a whole month. And yet, because of one item that I posted about two years ago, I am now in a feature Movie and on an episode of a hit television show.

It all started for me when I wrote a narrative that detailed what happened one night after midnight while walking my dog in the town of Raynham, Massachusetts.

I did not know it at the time, but the area is said to be part of the "Bridgewater Triangle" - a hotbed for ghostly appearances, Puckwudgies, giant snakes, UFOs, and many odd and sometimes fatal happenings.

A short, pot bellied, hairy little creature appeared under a streetlamp just a few hundred yards from my house. It beckoned me. In a strange language, something like English, it called to me.

"Keer.....Keer ...Keer....Keer....Ee wan chu....chu.....ee wan chu KEER KEER";

it implored, with its furry hand and arm reaching towards me as if to pull me in.

My dog - an 80 pound Rot-Shep mix who once tried to tackle a Bison - was so frightened by the creature that she cried and began shaking. Taking my cue from the canine, I made a hasty retreat to my house.

I told a few people about what happened, but kept largely silent on the subject for many years. After I retired and began writing on Hubpages, I decided to make a written record of the incident. The Hub got a fair amount of traffic and I received some emails from people who had heard of similar things.

In early 2013, Aaron Cadieux and Manny Famolare; the Co Producers of "The Bridgewater Triangle" movie contacted me and convinced me to be in their film. The movie premiered in October 2013 and has been playing to sold out audiences at colleges and other venues, mostly in New England. The movie has also been submitted to film festivals and probably will find its way to television. A Blu Ray and DVD release is planned for Summer of 2013.

When I went to the premiere, at the University of Massachusetts Theater in Dartmouth, I was excited to see myself on the big screen, with a sell out audience of more than 800 people also watching. I thought I was going to hate myself, but my interview came out well and many people have said that my portion is the most compelling of the documentary.

For me, there are several segments that are amazing. Two broadcasters from a Boston TV station are featured. Their account of seeing UFOs at the Raynham Dog Track, is riveting. Retired police officer Alan Alves gives an astonishing and credible account of dozens of things that have happened in the area. The whole production is fascinating and I hope the entire country gets to see it.

The next exciting thing that happened to me because of my HubPages article, was a call from Discovery TV. A producer read my work, and they signed me for the second episode of Season Two of Monsters and Mysteries in America on Destination America and Discovery.

The film crew came to my former home in Raynham, where my son, Bill Jr. now lives. It was a 95 degree scorcher when we did the filming. They kept putting some make up stuff on my face to stop the perspiration, but it didn't work that well; so if you watch the show, premiering at 10 p.m. on December 22, and you see me sweating. It's not because I am nervous, it was just so HOT!!!!!!

MY HUBS REPRINTED IN MAJOR MEDIA OUTLETS

Another nice little thing that has happened to me with my HubPages articles, is that some of them have been reprinted in major newspapers with full writing credit to me. Other items have been put to print and distributed to far off family members - some of whom have yet to enter the computer age!

The Cape Cod Times and Cape Cod online has used my work. A Maine newspaper republished my piece on Caribou songwriter Don Peters. My exclusive interview for HubPages with Don Peters came after he introduced me to Canadian Country music legend, Lloyd Snow (The King of the Malls).

Lloyd also gave me an exclusive interview which I published on HubPages and which has had a fair amount of interest in the U.S. as well as in Canada.

Now, I am just wishing and hoping for a publisher to offer to collect and distribute my articles in book form. Stop laughing ! ! ! ! It could happen ! ! ! ! You never know who is reading these hubs.

It is an exciting time for me, at the age of 70 to be in a movie and on a TV show. And it is all because of a single item I wrote on the Hub Pages site.

The moral of my story is write, write, and write some more. You never know where your writing may take you.

The top point of the area is centered around the four towns in Massachusetts, named Bridgewater. They are Bridgewater, East Bridgewater, West Bridgewater, and North Bridgewater. North Bridgewater was renamed "Brockton" in the early 1820s.

Brockton is world famous for producing the only unbeaten heavyweight boxing champion, Rocky Marciano, as well as for being the home of Marvelous Marvin Hagler, who held the undisputed middleweight title for many years.

The bottom points of the triangle are the towns of Rehoboth and East Freetown.

The Bridgewaters are part of an enormous wetland called the Hockomock Swamp. This region was home to the great native American Sachem (chief), Massasoit, who not only gave his name to the state of Massachusetts; but also is credited with saving the first European settlers from starvation when they first landed in the new world in the 1620s.

Massasoit shared his food and his knowledge with John Carver, William Bradford, Miles Standish and the rest of the Europeans. He not only was present at the first thanksgiving, but probably is the sole reason there was a first thanksgiving.

After the Chief's death, tension grew between the Europeans and the new Chief, Massasoit's son, Metacomet (called King Phillip by the Euros). As the situation worsened war broke out between the burgeoning population of the new settlers and the native Americans.

By this time there were more than 50,000 Euros in the new world and less than 5,000 members of Massasoit's Wampanoag nation. After the bloodiest war, per capita, in the history of the United States, the European settlers were the winners and the native Americans were nearly totally wiped out,

Metacomet was captured and ruthlessly beheaded. His head was mounted on a pike at the entrance to Fort Plymouth and remained there for 20 years - a long standing warning to any remaining "indians".

Before he died, Metacomet is said to have cursed the land and the Europeans and all of their children and all future generations.

Some people say that this is why the "Bridgewater Triangle" remains a place of death, UFOs, Bigfoot Creatures, Puckwudgies, Giant Snakes, Satanic Rituals, and many more eerie happenings.
